All Progressive Congress (APC), chieftain and Niger Delta activist, Chief Ayiri Emami has raised alarm over an alleged threat to his life by unknown persons suspected to have masterminded multiple attack on oil and gas installations around Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state.
Emami alleged that he has been under serious threat since Sunday after he joined the Commander of the JTF, Maj-Gen. Alani Okunlola to embark on an on-the-spot assessment of the bombed site at Egwa II, Warri South-West LGA.
Emami told THEWILL on Wednesday that he has been receiving death threats over his campaign against the current pipeline attack by elements out to wrecked the nation’s oil and gas assets and further pollute and destroy the ecological lives in various communities in the region.
“This group of faceless persons want to deviate attention of security agents while they clean up their mess. They have been threatening my life and accusing me indiscriminately because they know I have been campaigning against their illicit dealings in the Delta Waterway”, he said.
The APC chieftain said that he would remain undeterred in his stand to help security agents unravel the perpetrators of dastardly act despite the sponsored personal attack against him, adding that it was obvious that those who bombed the installation had carried out the attack in protest going by its timing.
Meanwhile, a prominent Ijaw leader in Gbaramatu and Ogulagha kingdom respectively in Delta state, Chief Beck Hitler, has expressed displeasure over Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s failure to join the entourage of Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Monsur Mohammed Dan-Ali (Rtd), on Tuesday, to the pipelines explosion scene in Warri South West local area.
Hitler, who spoke in Warri, said it was shameful and highly regrettable that since the multiple blasts occurred the Governor, Dr. Okowa, being the Chief Security Officer of the State, never deemed it fit to personally visit the pipeline explosion scene and still failed to join the Defence minister to the scene.
“Governor Okowa should know better that it is also his responsibility to protect Federal Government assets in Delta state, therefore, he should have been active, and shown more efforts, commitment since the incident occurred, instead of shying away from his responsibility”.
The marine expert, however, commended the Defence Minister, Mohammed Dan-Ali for the inspection, but appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to pursue his agenda to develop the Niger Delta region.
Hitler also appealed to the Defence Minister to prevail on his men not to victimize or attack innocent Ijaw indigenes and communities for crimes they never committed, but are very free to search for the culprits.
