The Nigerian Senate has dumped its bid to amend the Code of Conduct Act, which it initiated about a week ago, following criticisms from the civil society and the public.
The amendment sought to whittle down the powers of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), where Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki is being tried for allegedly failing to declare all his assets.
The controversial Senator from Delta State, Senator Peter Nwaobosi, initiated the unpopular bill.
Senator Ben Bruce confirmed the development in multiple tweets Wednesday.
