Charming movie star, Joke Silva, is adored by fans because of the way she interprets her roles in movies.
She is also interested in ensuring that Nigerian youths do things right.
At the I-MAP Youth Concert organised by PRAWA, the winner of multiple awards and screen diva preached against illegal migration.
In an emotion-laden voice, she gave the youngsters a million and one reasons why it would be more profitable to invest in their fatherland.
On the sideline of the event, the award-winning actress told Saturday Beats that the belief that life is easier outside Nigeria is false, adding that some parents force their children to travel abroad for selfish reasons.
She said, “I go to a place called God Bless Nigeria. It is one of the non-governmental foundations we have. One of the programmes they run is shelter for both men and women.
“When you go to the shelter and see some of the young people that have been trafficked, you will be surprised. We have someone who is as young as 10 years trafficked by the parents. These kids would be molested all the way by the supposed guardians. It is a passion that I have, to advise young people against illegal migration.”
The Nollywood actress says even in rich nationals, people sleep on the streets. She advised that it would be better to go abroad for holidays than to go in search of greener pastures.
She said, “People believe that things are so rosy outside Nigeria, it is not true. It is not true at all. You would get to places in the United States and you would see people sleeping outside.
“We are not Americans, we are coming from Africa and we think things are going to be easier for us when we get there? Things are difficult all over the world. What we should be looking at is how to make things better for us. Those countries we are migrating to, what they have and we believe we don’t have, why can’t we create it here? That is what we should be working towards; then go there on holiday.”
